In the Ionian we offer Assisted Bareboat Charters based from Lefkas and sailing in
the Southern Ionian. This programme consists of sourcing yachts,
usually up to six, from a number of different bareboat suppliers,
but then arranging for them to join Assisted Bareboat Charters for a
small additional fee. This then effectively creates a mini-flotilla,
from a large choice of yachts from different providers, offering the
key elements of support of a standard flotilla, without the
disadvantages of possibly a limited selection of yachts, or of being
part of too large a group. This option should appeal both to
first-timers to the Ionian, as well as more experienced sailors.
This programme will particularly appeal to those wanting the freedom
of Bareboat charter, while still having assistance when arriving in
port in the evenings. Anybody familiar with this area will know that
the best winds in the Ionian are in the mid to late afternoon, but
there is an increasing tendency to have to get into the more popular
ports earlier in order to moor up. With ABC there will be no problem
if you choose to remain out later enjoying your sailing. Of course
the later you arrive the less chance there is of finding an empty
place on the quay, so this is where being part of a small group led
by someone with local knowledge of where you can raft up safely, and
use your dinghy to come ashore, will be appreciated by even the most
experienced skippers. In the evenings you will then be left totally
free to do your own thing and will not be put under any pressure to
mix with other crews, unless you want to. Group meals etc will only
be arranged if a particular group requests it. The lead yacht for
this programme will always be a skippered charter yacht, so this is
also a very good way for families or groups without enough
experience to skipper a yacht themselves to participate in this kind
of holiday. On certain dates this lead yacht will also cater for
singles or couples who will then be mixed with others to make up the
crew.
